Authentication Methods

LIBstick offers three authentication methods to accommodate different customer requirements and preferences. Customers can choose one of the following options during setup or transition between options later on:

1. Internal Authentication (Default)

With Internal Authentication, each user account is assigned a unique username and password. Users log in directly via LIBstick’s authentication system.

  • Setup: User accounts and credentials are managed entirely within LIBstick by the customer’s account managers.
  • Best suited for: Organizations that prefer simple, direct management of user accounts without integration to external identity providers.

2. External Authentication via Single Sign-On (SSO)

LIBstick supports integration with external authentication providers using Single Sign-On. Currently, LIBstick supports Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AD). Additional providers will be supported based on customer demand.

  • Setup: Will be performed with LIBstick implementation team.
  • Benefits:
    • Streamlined user management through the existing organizational directory.
    • Improved security and compliance by centralizing authentication.
    • Users enjoy seamless logins without additional credentials.
  • Best suited for: Organizations already using Azure AD and wishing to centralize user management and authentication.

3. Internal + External Authentication

This hybrid option combines the benefits of Internal and External authentication. Typically, most users authenticate through the external SSO provider, while selected managers retain internal authentication credentials as a secondary method.

  • Setup: Will be performed with LIBstick implementation team.
  • Benefits:
    • Flexibility in managing users, particularly for managers tasks.
    • Redundancy in authentication methods ensures continuous access even if external provider authentication experiences disruptions.
  • Best suited for: Organizations requiring flexibility for different user groups, such as allowing administrators independent internal access while maintaining external authentication for general users.
